Ruby on Rails / Web Developer

Do you excel at coding elegant web sites? Are you passionate about web standards? Do you know your divs and ActiveRecord inside out? Then we'd love to talk to you.

Here are the specific skills that we are looking for:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ years programming with Ruby/Rails/Python/PHP or parallel technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with CSS/(X)HTML, and wrangling with browser quirks
  • Fluency in JavaScript (AJAX) / RJS
  • SQL programming using MySQL, database design skills and experience with
    • advanced SQL programming constructs,
    • SQL query analysis/optimizations,
    • best practices for database indexing,
    • ActiveRecord
  • Appreciation for simple and elegant HTML code
  • Solid knowledge of modern web page layout and templates
  • Understanding of XML and XSL
  • Familiarity with Capistrano, OOP, MVC patterns, REST patterns, regular expressions

Any of the following will be considered a plus:

  • Prior experience with: Java, JRuby, memcached, Mongrel, libxml
  • Experience writing: Rails plugins, Capistrano plugins, Mongrel handlers
  • Familiarity with meta-programming or C/C++ programming experience
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience developing APIs and platforms
  • Interests in data visualization and information architecture
  • An up to date blog
