Sandvine Sees Growth for Intelligent Broadband Solutions in Asia
Sandvine appoints APAC director in Hong Kong
Waterloo, Canada; October 26, 2005 - Sandvine Incorporated, world leader in intelligent broadband management solutions, today announced the appointment of Emmanuel Yiu to manage the growth of its business in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region from a new regional office in Hong Kong.
Emmanuel and his team will support current Sandvine customers in Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan and satisfy the growing demand for Sandvine solutions throughout the APAC region.
“Emmanuel Yiu brings a wealth of knowledge and local expertise working with carriers to continue growing Sandvine’s success in the APAC region where subscriber quality of experience is paramount,” said Tom Donnelly, Sandvine executive vice president of marketing and sales.
The APAC region is home to the world’s highest broadband penetration rates, fastest growing broadband countries, fastest Internet speeds and most sophisticated broadband users.
According to Point Topic, China has more than 28 million broadband lines with a penetration rate of only 2 per cent. South Korea leads the world with a broadband penetration rate of more than 25 percent and Japan boasts the fastest available residential Internet service with speeds up to 40 Mbps.
As a result, broadband providers in the APAC region are at the forefront of IP service delivery and require network intelligence to satisfy the needs of their leading-edge users. Sandvine’s expertise will enable APAC broadband providers to protect subscriber applications from malicious attacks and competing traffic by prioritizing traffic for gamers, VoIP users and other high-value, latency, and jitter-sensitive applications.
“With faster connection speeds and increased capacity, APAC broadband providers have an even greater urgency for intelligence in their network to ensure valuable subscriber applications are protected from malicious and competing traffic,” said Emmanuel Yiu, Sandvine regional director.
Sandvine intelligent broadband network solutions gives service providers tools to identify threats and emerging applications, reduce network congestion, protect subscribers, their applications, and enhance subscriber quality of experience (QoE).
