Liberty media signs global purchase agreement for sandvine’s award-winning IP service control platform

Waterloo, Ontario and Englewood, Colorado; February 24, 2005 -- Sandvine Incorporated today announced a three-year global purchase agreement with Liberty Media Corporation (LMC) (NYSE: L, LMC.B) and Liberty Media International, Inc. (LMI) (Nasdaq: LBTYA, LBTYB). The deal enables both LMC and LMI, one of the world’s largest broadband companies, to distribute Sandvine’s full product suite to over 40 ISPs with a combined global network of more than 25 million homes passed.

LMC and LMI have ownership interests in some of the world’s most recognized and respected broadband service providers.  The agreement facilitates the deployment of Sandvine technology by LMC and LMI companies, allowing them to offer their subscribers user-specific, content-rich applications; and ensure quality of service of voice, video and data for increased network profitability and improved subscriber satisfaction. 

Sudhir Ispahani, Chief Technology Officer for UnitedGlobalCom, Inc. (UGC), LMI's largest affiliate and present in 16 European and Latin American countries said, "As we are entering a time of accelerated emergence and convergence of video, data and voice services it is critical that we have more network management visibility into our IP networks.  With Sandvine as a technology partner we have increased our design engineering flexibility by having greater granularity into analyzing data flows on our networks".  Says Ispahani, "As our product and services increase in complexity, and network quality and utilization becomes more critical, we will require more sophisticated tools to better manage our business."
