Icera Experiences Strong Revenue Growth and Continued Demand
Stan Boland, President & CEO of Icera Inc, said: ‘Despite poor visibility in the marketplace which makes it difficult to predict forward revenues with accuracy, during the first quarter, Icera has seen healthy demand for its chipset, particularly for HSPA USB sticks and we've begun multiple further customer projects which we hope will bring additional revenue growth in future quarters. These projects include more USB stick devices and embedded modules for the fast-emerging netbook market. As a result, we're optimistic that our market share will grow strongly as the year progresses.' Boland continued: ‘We were fortunate to have secured $70M of funding in December 2008 which will sustain us during the current period of economic uncertainty and fund us through to profitability. With other 3G chipset companies unable to keep up with the market leader or unable to qualify their chipsets, customers are turning in greater numbers to Icera's soft modem solution for competitive advantage.' Icera is unique in offering a fully soft modem solution which offers a more flexible and higher performance solution than chipsets from other suppliers. In recent independent industry tests*, Icera's solution outperformed the incumbent market leader Qualcomm and four other potentially competitive chipset suppliers, coming top overall and leading the field in ten out of twelve of the most challenging, but realistic, network scenarios. Icera's solutions currently support Category 9 HSDPA (10.2Mbps) and Category 6 HSUPA (5.7Mbps), as well as GSM, GPRS and EDGE, with a firmware upgrade to 14Mbps available later in 2009. For competitive reasons, Icera does not reveal financial results or projections. *Signals Research, February 2009 About Icera For further information, please contact: Sally Doherty |
