NEW YORK – February 11, 2010 – LiveHive Systems has been selected to deliver the NBCOlympics.com Primetime Challenge, an interactive viewing experience, to NBC’s coverage of the Vancouver Winter Games from Vancouver, February 12-28. The announcement was made today by Perkins Miller, Senior Vice President, Digital Media, NBC Sports & Olympics and Dave Bullock, CEO, LiveHive Systems Inc.
NBCOlympics.com Primetime Challenge is an interactive, two-screen companion to NBC’s television broadcast. As viewers watch NBC’s on-air coverage, they will be able to engage with content that complements the broadcast in real-time. Viewers will be able to predict the outcomes of live events, participate in real-time polls, and answer trivia questions related to what’s happening moment-to-moment in the Olympic Games. Players will also have the opportunity to chat, challenge, and compete with friends, and do it all live, providing a forum for Olympic fans to connect with others. The Primetime Challenge first appeared during NBC’s coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
“The Beijing Games showed us that viewers want an interactive and social experience while they watch the Olympics,” said Bullock. “We’re building on that success with NBCOlympics.com Primetime Challenge for the 2010 Olympics. Fans will have the chance to get even closer to the action by predicting and debating more aspects of the Olympic Games than ever before.”
“We’ve learned that the more ways we offer fans to connect to the Olympics, the more they watch,” said Miller. “With the NBCOlympics.com Primetime Challenge’s real-time predictive questions and forums, users can engage with the broadcast and immerse themselves deeper into all of the competition from Vancouver.”
NBCOlympics.com Primetime Challenge is available from February 12-28, 2010 on NBCOlympics.com.
