Icera Powers LG Turbo USB HSPA Modem
Bristol, UK 22 April 2010: Icera Inc., the Mobile Broadband semiconductor company, today announced its Livanto® chipset is powering the USB modem from LG Mobile Phones which launched with AT&T in the US, the AT&T USBConnect Turbo.
The AT&T USBConnect Turbo is a highly versatile consumer-friendly USB modem offering support for 7.2 HSPA connectivity in a tri-band UMTS (850/1900/2100) and quad-band GSM/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900) configuration for global roaming. The device features a compact, lightweight design and an integrated microSD card for portable data storage.
Stan Boland, President & CEO, Icera Inc, said: "Our Livanto® chipset combines outstanding user experience with unparalleled network efficiency due to our high performance soft modem technology. This innovative technology is allowing us to deliver enhanced mobile broadband performance to operators who are increasingly differentiating themselves through the quality and consistency of their mobile broadband experience."
Icera's Adaptive Wireless soft modem is independently recognized as the industry's top-performing HSPA mobile broadband technology. Unlike any other baseband technology, Icera's Adaptive Wireless executes the entire modem in software on a specific high performance processor. This approach produces a unique flexibility to develop and implement advanced algorithms in software, which can adapt dynamically to specific channel conditions to boost performance without the need for any extra silicon.
The AT&T USBConnect Turbo device is available in AT&T retail stores in the US and online at http://www.wireless.att.com.
