Sirific Wireless Doubles HSDPA Data Rates wtih Single-Chip HEDGE Diversity Transce
CMOS Transceiver Yields Smallest Receive Diversity Radio Footprint and Lowest Bill of Materials for Multi-Band HSDPA / WEDGE Applications
Richardson, Texas – April 4, 2006 – Sirific Wireless Limited, an innovator of single-chip CMOS RF transceivers for multi-mode wireless applications, announced today that it is the first semiconductor company in the mobile industry to release samples of a single-chip CMOS HEDGE RF transceiver that implements multi-band receive diversity. The SW3210 is the latest product in Sirific’s Nexus™ III family of 3.5G single-chip CMOS RF transceivers and is sampling now in a fully-functional receive diversity radio evaluation module. With samples available one year ahead of the competition, the highly integrated SW3210 gives 3.5G handset manufacturers a significant head start in developing small-profile mobile applications that feature enhanced HSDPA performance.
Sirific Wireless has leveraged the advantages of 130-nm CMOS technology to maximize integration in the SW3210, thus creating the industry’s smallest receive diversity radio footprint. When coupled with a radio front-end that supports tri-band WCDMA receive diversity (bands I, II, and V) and quad-band EDGE, the SW3210 enables a complete radio solution with an RF PCB area that is only 6.1 cm2 and an RF bill of materials less than 172 components, as implemented in Sirific’s EM3210 radio evaluation module.

The versatile SW3210 transceiver supports transmit and receive operation, including receive diversity, in seven WCDMA bands (I - VI and VIII). It also supports all four GSM / EDGE bands. A flexible baseband interface provides separate analog interfaces for GSM / EDGE, WCDMA and WCDMA diversity. The SW3210 also includes a DigRF-compliant digital baseband interface for GSM / EDGE transmit and receive operation.
All Nexus™ III transceivers incorporate a proven linear direct up-conversion architecture. The result is a low-noise, power-efficient multi-band transmitter design that interfaces directly to standard linear power amplifiers. Another common feature of Nexus™ III transceivers is a multi-band direct down-conversion receiver architecture that supports concurrent WCDMA and GSM / EDGE operation, as well as compressed mode operation for smooth handoff between WCDMA and GSM / EDGE networks.

The SW3210 CMOS RF transceiver is sampling now in a 7 mm x 7 mm x 1 mm Land Grid Array (LGA) package. Pricing begins at $9.95 per unit in 10K-unit quantities.
The EM3210 radio evaluation module is available now at a price of $1500.00 to mobile handset designers.
Also available now for non-diversity tri-band WCDMA and quad-band GSM / EDGE solutions is the second generation of the EM3200 radio evaluation module, which features an RF PCB area of only 5.3 cm2 and an RF bill of materials of 137 components, at a price of $995.
